1. What is the purpose of this regulation?
The Dairy Products Marketing Regulations under the Canadian Dairy Commission Act set out the requirement for calculating the federal quota that each provincial board will have to allot each year and authorize the CDC to set levies and charges for the marketing of a dairy product in interprovincial and export trade.

Intended modification to class 4(m)
OTTAWA, December 24, 2020
The Canadian Dairy Commission, in consultation with industry stakeholders, is considering an update to the 4(m) milk class to allow dairy processors to obtain the 4(m) permit price for the buttermilk incorporated in the manufacture of skim milk powder sold for animal feed. A further change under consideration is for liquid buttermilk for animal feed to be included as an eligible permit product in the 4(m) milk class up to the established limit.

Jennifer Hayes was appointed as Chairperson of the Canadian Dairy Commission for a four-year-term, effective December 23, 2021.
Ms. Hayes was first appointed to the CDC in January 2017, in the role of Commissioner and held the position for four years.
