The Commission supports the creation of a highly skilled, diversified and versatile workforce. In this way, it seeks to meet current and future needs of the dairy producing and processing sectors. The Workforce Development Initiative encourages productivity, competition and innovation by supporting education and the hiring of a skilled workforce. The Initiative funds four separate programs dedicated to strengthening the dairy industry’s workforce.

Career Promotion Program | The Career Promotion Program encourages and supports the development, production and distribution of materials to promote careers and training opportunities for the benefit of Canada’s dairy industry. |
Continuing Education Program | The Continuing Education Program encourages and supports recognized educational institutions and organizations, in partnership with dairy industry associations, in development of continuing education programs and courses intended for existing dairy plant and farm staff, to raise their qualifications and enhance their skills. |
Education Program | The Education Programme encourages and supports recognized educational institutions, in partnership with dairy processors’ associations, in development of full-time educational programs in dairy processing. |
Scholarship Program | The Scholarship Program encourages and supports higher education in the dairy industry sector and increases career opportunities for students in Canada’s dairy industry. |
